A portrait I made of Willem Rebergen, for me the pose he has is like 'I can't believe this all'. The satisfaction of how his life turned out and what he created for himself.
That is what I wanted to recapture in the drawing.
I started with the shirt, and after drawing this, I was amazed by the shadows and depths in it. Then I found it quite difficult to continue, what if the rest of the drawing didn't go as planned, what if it didn't come out as amazing as the shadows and depth in the shirt...
The doubts overtook, and I put the project aside.
After 8 months I found the project somewhere in a cabin and completed it with.
The rest suits quite well with the shirt I was so proud of.
Not only Willem had a pose of satisfaction, I myself, did also had that pose after finishing this drawing.
